What was your inspiration for starting your blog? What was your initial vision for your blog?- My blog started as a place to capture inspiration for my newly launched freelance work. Overtime, it’s evolved and I’ve broadened the spectrum of my content and changed the name to better suit my content.
What sets your blog apart from other culture or lifestyle based blogs?- I talk about a lot of different topics. I have a lot of hobbies and my blog content is a reflection of that. I love fashion, interior design and cooking and I also love building my own furniture, traveling and yes, even knitting.
“I have a lot of hobbies…I love fashion, interior design and cooking and I also love building my own furniture, traveling and yes, even knitting.”
What type of content fits with your targeted audience?- A lot! Let’s face it, I like a lot of different things, and my readers do too! I like to think that each day they won’t know what they’re getting. Maybe it’s a pizza recipe, a personal style post or even directions on how to build your own coffee table. I don’t stick to just one topic because I’m not only passionate about one thing.
What does a day in your blog life look like?- No day is quite the same. Some days I wake up with a great idea, some days I’ve planned ahead and scheduled my post (I like these daysbest!) and some days it just doesn’t happen at all. I run my own business and when that gets hectic, the blog gets put on the back-burner for the day.
Is running your own blog as glamorous as it sounds? Why or why not?- Haha, probably not! I think people who don’t blog have an idea that bloggers just get a bunch of free stuff sent to them and take pictures in it. While that may be true for some big time bloggers, it’s not the norm. For me, it’s a hobby, and a way to express myself creatively away from my job. Free stuff and making a little money from it helps, but that’s not why I do it.
“I like to be comfortable in what I’m wearing and want it to be a reflection of who I am and how I’m feeling that day!”
How would you describe your personal style, and who are your biggest style inspirations? Why?- Casual, but always stylish. I’m not one to fuss over fancy outfits. I like to be comfortable in what I’m wearing and want it to be a reflection of who I am and how I’m feeling that day!
What are your favourite stores to shop at for the perfect outfit?- Madewell, J.Crew, Anthropologie — mixing the pieces from different places creates its own look.
What is your favourite travel hot spot? What items do you not leave behind?- My fiancé and I love to travel, but try our best not to go back to the same places. But, I will always have a soft spot for summers in Aspen at my grandparents’ house and I love Brussels, Belgium. We’re hoping to travel to Asia for our honeymoon, so who knows, it might change! I always pack my iPad loaded with a few good e-books, a Moleskin journal and lots of pencils, chapstick and sunscreen.
“Always be kind. You never know who you may run into again in this digital day and age!”
Can you offer any advice for new bloggers or entrepreneurs looking to promote their business?- Make connections! I feel like I can completely say that my business grew by making connections with bloggers across the world. Always be kind. You never know who you may run into again in this digital day and age!
