Launching a New Offer? 4 Steps For Your Pre-Launch List!

There’s no such thing as too much buzz when it comes to a product launch, so put your efforts towards building excitement. Keep track of your activities and track metrics so you can see what works and what doesn’t and do it even better next time.

There are many moving parts to a product launch, but there is a series of clear steps that starts with your product idea and ends with success. Here are 4 of those steps to launching your product and I share more tips inside the Public Relations Academy.

  1. Behind the scenes: Offer a behind-the-scenes look. A great way to do this is to make a behind-the-scenes video that shows the inside of your company, product, or industry. Another way you could do this, is by creating a video conversation about a related topic. For example, I’ve done this for the launch of the Public Relations Academy in this video where I’ve shared my public relations tips.
  2. Social media hashtags: Create branded hashtags and encourage people to use them for conversations related to your product.
  3. Enter to win: Hold contests related to your product that your audience can join. Social media platforms have built-in tools that make holding contests easy. This will help you build your email list when you are ready to launch your new product or service. You will have an audience warmed up to your business.
  4. Create a deadline: Use a countdown timer as you get closer to the event. Keep reminding people how many days are left until launch. People need a deadline to take action, so give them one. A deadline is also helpful for YOU as you can shift from marketing your new offer to servicing your buyers.

When you are in the product pre-launch stage, go about each day performing the tasks on your schedule. One of the main things this will include is content creation and publishing. You’ll also be interacting on social media and elsewhere online to build buzz about your new offer.

As the launch gets closer, ramp up your efforts. Post increasingly more content, and talk about your launch more and more online as the day approaches. Your efforts at the late pre-launch stage should be aimed at building excitement so your audience is anticipating the product’s release. Then when you finally launch, they will be ready to buy! You’ve established trust and discussed your product features in advance.

You’ll need all hands on deck the day the product goes live, providing support and watching your numbers. On the big day, your customers will probably have a great deal of questions and you might have tech issues that need to be resolved immediately. The day of your product launch is not the best day to go away on vacation!

Many businesses have a big launch event for their customers to make it even more exciting and build buzz. Have a plan in place to connect with each customer to gather feedback. Find out what they thought about the product and use this data to make improvements for the next time. This is also a good time to gather testimonials and ask customers to write reviews.
