In the first part of the series, we are discussing how you can plan ahead to ensure your marketing success for the entire year.
Think about it. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a step-by-step plan for your year so you know exactly what you are working on and exactly what your profits will look like once you take the next step and amplify your marketing efforts?
One of the most important things you can do to ensure marketing success is to plan in advance what you will be marketing and the different ways in which you will do so for any given product or service. It’s not a one and done proposition. It takes a few weeks to get the message out and get people to answer your calls to action. They’ll need to see them in multiple ways. Create a separate plan for each product and marketing channel.
Maybe you have a great product to promote but you’re not sure where to start?
The best place to start is with creating a marketing plan. A marketing plan includes figuring out your business identity; determining who your competition is, who your target audience is, what your unique selling proposition is, as well as a way to quantify all of the above. Then it includes deciding what marketing channels you’ll use as well as what methods you’ll use to penetrate those channels.

In order for you to know where your business needs to go, you need a road-map. That’s why you create a business plan. The same goes for every aspect of your business, including marketing.
You’ll need a separate marketing plan for each channel:
- Search Engine Marketing
- Social Media Marketing
- Content Marketing
- Email Marketing
- Pay Per Click Marketing
- Speaking Engagements
- Joint Ventures
- Affiliate Marketing
Each type of marketing you plan to do needs its own plan and it will likely include more than one of the channels above. For instance, if you have a contest you may use many of the other ways to promote the contest, which is really to promote a particular product or service. You may write blog posts about the contests, social media updates about the contest, mention the contest in a webinar, and so forth.
Don’t just think about the marketing plan, actually put it in writing! It can be just one page.
For example, here is a what your marketing plan “check-list” might look like (feel free to use this!):
- Create an amazing sales page that allows your customers or clients to purchase your product.
- On your sales page, you want to include product information, information for your audience or marketing partners who will be excited about the new product and ready to go the moment the sales page is live due to your pre-launch emails to them educating them about the new product.
- Next, you will ask your marketing partners and customers for testimonials.
- Interview 3 people about how the product/ service solved their problems, post them to your blog, and post an announcement about them to your email list. Each interview points to the sales page to encourage your reader to take action!
- Create testimonials out of the 3 interviews and put them on the sales page.
- Write 6 blog posts educating your audience about the problem your product or service solves, linking to the sales page.
- Write a social media update about the blog posts.
- Send out 6 email blasts discussing the problems the product/ service solves, linking to the sales page.
- Encourage people to sign up for your newsletter on your blog and on social media to learn more about your product or service.
Next, you should put all of these actions into a calendar, such as Google Calendar, or a calendar you made in MS Excel, so that you know exactly what day you will do each thing that you’ve decided to do. Be very specific with your calendar so that you can easily go to each day and do the tasks listed and/ or hand them off to your assistant.
You see, the more carefully you plan each step of your marketing plan the more likely it is to get the results that you want. This is why you need to plan in advance to amplify your marketing and increase your chances of success as a female entrepreneur.
When you think about this clearly, you see that planning your marketing in advance supercharges your chances for marketing success.
Regardless of the strategy you choose, planning out what you will do each week, then simply repeating it every time you have a new product or service will help you become more successful than you ever thought possible. If you play your cards right, the truth is, increasing your profits is simply a few weeks away.
